Andy White – Managing Director
I trained as a plumbing apprentice in 1983 and enjoyed working in the construction industry for 20 years including running my own plumbing & heating business. I have worked in education since gaining my teaching qualification in 1997. I have been awarded a Licentiateship and an engineering technician along with becoming an assessor and internal verifier. In 2004 due to well documented shortage of quality plumbing provision I opened PGL Construction Training.
Anita Butt - Operations Manager
Cert.Ed.
I am an experienced Lecturer, Assessor and Internal Verifier and have worked in education and training since 1990. Roles undertaken prior to joining PGL have included curriculum management for both full time and apprenticeship day release courses and contract management for work based learning provision.
Katrina Tapp - Finance/Administration Manager
After spending 19 years working for a major bank I joined PGL Training in 2005 and manage the finance/administration team.
Gladys Ward - Train to Gain Co-ordinator
I work for PGL Training as the Train to Gain co-ordinator. I am responsible for all learners on the programme and work closely with the LSC, ConstructionSkills and employers. I have been involved in both education and training for over 10 years.
Vicki Juleff - Programme Co-ordinator
I have a BEd(Hons) degree in Mathematics and Education and NVQ Level 4 qualifications in Human Resource Development and Training and Development. I also hold Assessor and Internal Verifier awards. I worked at St Loye’s Foundation, Exeter for over 29 years, where I started as a Lecturer teaching maths in the Further Education Unit. When the unit closed in 1991 I became part of a team who formed the Assessment and Development Centre, delivering assessments and foundation programmes for both technical and commercial courses. I subsequently worked in the Vocational Training Department and for the last 4 years I was the Skills and Learning Manager, responsible for the training courses, the Employment Advisers and the Administration Team. I also spent several years as an Adult Community Education Tutor, delivering evening classes and workshops in IT. For many years I was an Examiner for Numeracy with OCR and for IT with City & Guilds. I joined PGL Training in September 2008.
Rachel Gigg - Administration Assistant
I am a full-time administrator at PGL Training. My roles include looking after all the awarding body registrations and certifications.
Trainers – Plumbing/Gas Team
John Parsons – Head of Plumbing
I have been working in construction (plumbing) since leave school in 1971. I spent 20 years as a self employed plumber (qualified to level 4 in plumbing). In 2003 I started lecturing in plumbing and became qualified to level 4 in teaching and learning in further education. I now teach and assess up to and including level 3. I am a Qualified Assessor and Internal Verifier and recently appointed as a City & Guilds External Verifier.
Stuart Crawford
Having worked in the gas, plumbing and heating industry as a qualified gas service engineer for more than twenty years, the last six and a half years of this time I have spent in further education lecturing and assessing in the mechanical engineering sector (plumbing and gas). Qualified to level 3 plumbing and alongside lecturing plumbing and gas I am a qualified trainer in the renewable energies which include heat pumps, solar and underfloor heating.
Paul Brewer
I have worked within the plumbing & heating sector since leaving school at 16 in 1973. My teaching career started with part-time in 1993 progressing to full-time in 1995. I hold a Certificate of Education award, City & Guilds Licentiateship award and verifier & assessor awards. I have had experience in a wide range of related industry training and assessment programmes including oil, gas services, unvented hot water and WRAS.
Jim Ballantyne
My current role at PGL Training is gas training and level 2/3 plumbing lecturer. I started my apprenticeship at British Gas in 1970 and stayed with them for 30 years. I also worked for 5 years with local heating firms before joining PGL Training.
Richard King
I am a full-time lecturer at PGL Training. I have 22 years teaching experience amongst 30 years plumbing experience, and have a Certificate in Education, D32 and D33 Assessor awards, Plumbing Certificate and Advanced Certificate.
Simon Metters
I am employed as the Training Officer at PGL Training and I carry out 10 weekly reviews with the employers, lecturers and apprentices to monitor that the apprentices are progressing with their qualification. I am responsible for the pastoral care of all apprentices. I am a qualified level 2 plumber.

Shaun Davies – Head of Electrical
I left school in the 1980's and became an Electrician over the next 5 years, I was lucky with the experience I gained in my career and have enjoyed passing that onto my students in my second career.I am now Head of Electrical at PGL Training Ltd and have been working for the centre for over 5 years now. I started as a part time lecturer. With support from the staff at PGL I have gained my teaching qualifications and progressed and grown as a lecturer and assessor over that time. PGL is a fantastic place to work because of the support for the staff and the student alike.
Graham Steer
I am an electrician by trade and have enjoyed passing on my experiences to learners in my lecturing role. I have been working as a lecturer and assessor for 4 years. PGL is a very supportive environment for learners and staff alike and this can be seen by the success rates in the centre.
Paul Williamson
I work at PGL Training as a part-time lecturer/assessor. I have over 20 years in the industry and have recently gained my assessor and teaching qualifications.
Rupert Thorogood
I am employed at PGL Training as an electrical trainer. I have over 20 years experience in the industry which has taken me all over the country. I am currently employed with the delivery on the 17th Edition.
Jim Cummings
I am employed as a part-time electrical training officer having worked in the electrical industry for the past 30 years.

Jim Ditch – Head of Construction
I qualified as a Site Carpenter in 1973 and worked as such until 1998 when I came into teaching and Assessing. I became an Assessor in 1999 and an Internal Verifier in 2004.
I currently assess level 2 &3 NVQ Site Carpentry Candidates and Teach and Assess 14-16yr old learners at PGL Training.
Dave Mallett
I am a time served apprentice with 50 years experience in Plastering and more recently Dry Lining, Tiling and Floor screeding. I qualified as an assessor in 2008 and I currently teach and assess part time at PGL Training.
Jim Jordan
I have over thirty years experience in the building industry as a site carpenter. I am level 2 qualified as a carpenter. I am currently employed at PGL Training as the centre technician and I carry out tutoring activities for both carpentry and plumbing.
