Basic Gas Safety
(Domestic) Installation and Maintenance
GGFO 4 week course
This is an intensive course for adult learners and new entrants into the gas
industry
The programme should be conducted as follows for a Category 3
applicant
- Initially the candidates will attend an approved training / assessment centre to undertake four weeks in house training, this initial four weeks will include as a minimum Candidate Induction, Completion of the Learning Contract / Agreement, Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Unsafe Situations Procedure,
Completion of "Off the Job" task sheets.
- The candidates will then return to their employer / placement for a
minimum period of ten weeks to complete the "On the Job" task
sheets and collect any other relevant evidence for their portfolio e.g.
copies of job sheets, witness statements etc. During this period the candidate will be required to attend the
approved training / assessment centre for approximately ½ a day per week to allow monitoring of their portfolio / progress.
- On completion of all the "On the Job" task sheets the candidate will
be required to re-attend the approved training / assessment centre
for a final weeks in house training and verification of his / her
completed portfolio. Following verification of the information supplied
the candidate will be required to undertake an ERS GGFO Assessment
in line with current ERS procedures.
- Following receipt of a certificate for the GGFO Assessment the
candidate will be allocated ACS Assessments in line with current ERS
procedures.
General Information
It is expected that the duration of each candidates programme will differ
slightly due to the types and sufficiency of work available to them and each
individual will be judged on their own merits.
