A National Vocational Qualification is a measure of an individual's capability to carry out a range of work to the performance criteria that their industry has agreed.
These courses are for people whose employers release them for training on a day release basis. Apprentices and adults who wish to improve their skills under the government's 'Train to Gain' initiative can take this course.
NVQ Level 1
NVQ Level 1 teaches you the basic skills needed to help prepare plastering materials ready to apply to surfaces. Some of the course is based at your work place and some are done at our centre.
The course consists of four mandatory units:

Unit VR 01 Conform to General Workplace Safety
Unit VR 03 Move and Handle Resources
Unit VR 61 Prepare and Mix Plastering Materials
Unit VR 62 Prepare Background Surfaces for Plasterwork
And then you must choose ONE of the following optional units:
Optional Units:
Unit VR 63 Position and Secure Plasterwork Resources
Unit VR 64 Produce Plasterwork Components from Open Flood Moulds
NVQ Level 2
The NVQ Level 2 follows on from NVQ Level 1. The course will show you the correct application of solid plastering, floor screed and dry lining. Some of the course is based at your work place and some is done at our centre.
The course consists of six mandatory units:

Unit VR 02 Conform to Efficient Work Practices
Unit VR 03 Move and Handle Resources
Unit VR 62 Prepare Background Surfaces for Plasterwork
Unit VR 66 Produce Internal Solid Plastering Finishes
Unit VR 67 Produce External Solid Plastering Finishes
And then you must choose TWO of the following optional units:

Unit VR 65 Apply Finishing Plaster to Background Surfaces
Unit VR 68 Install Direct Bond Dry Linings
Unit VR 69 Lay Sand and Cement Screeds
Unit VR 70 Apply Projection Plaster and Maintain Equipment
Unit VR 71 Install Mechanically Fixed Plasterboard
