National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) recognise the abilities of individuals in the workplace. They are based on the competences required for employment which have been determined by the industry. These competences are known as national standards.
Course Content:
PGL Training will provide the following services to candidates: -
Training workshops are held at our local centre offering theory, underpinning knowledge, task assignments and candidate support. Training is structured around the relevant NVQ portfolio.
During the programme our Training Officer will visit each candidate in the workplace to review progress against their Individual Training Plan and liaise with mentors and supervisors. Guidance and support will be provided throughout the programme to enable ultimate achievement of the award.
The modules to be studied are: -
SEC3/001 Ensure safe site working
SEC3/002 Provide technical & functional information
SEC3/004 Maintain a healthy & safe working environment
SEC3/011 Diagnose & correct faults in electrotechnical systems & equipment
SEC3/012 Prepare to install electrical wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment
SEC3/013 Install electrical wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment
SEC3/014 Connect wiring systems & equipment using safe & approved methods
SEC3/015 Inspect, test & commission an electrical installation
To achieve an NVQ Level 3 in electrical, the above 8 units must be achieved.
Course Assessment:
Assessments will take place at mutually agreed times to determine and confirm a candidate's progress and competence set against the national standards. This is achieved by two main methods: -
On successful completion of a framework each candidate will be issued with certificates for their respective NVQ achieved.
Completion of the Technical Certificate Level 2 End Tests relating to specific modules will need to be achieved to enable certificate of the NVQ.
